Common conversions

Frequently asked questions

Which unit should I trust, the deed or the advertisement?

The deed and the khatian, which are in acres and decimal. Convert the advertised katha to decimal and compare; a 5 katha plot should read about 8.26 decimal.

Why does the converter show 28 units when I only need two?

The table under the result lets you check the same land in every unit without changing the selection. Use the two lists for the pair you need and ignore the rest.

Are the results rounded?

The arithmetic is exact; only the display is rounded, to four decimal places for values above 1 and six below it.

Do the figures apply outside Bangladesh?

West Bengal and Assam use the same sizes. Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Nepal have their own bigha and katha, covered by the region pages linked above.
